The Journey
My name is Cindy Pacheco, and my journey in emergency response began in 2016 when I entered the wildland fire service. What started as a job quickly became a passion and a calling. Through firefighting, I discovered the importance of preparation, teamwork, leadership, and the confidence that comes from knowing how to respond when every second counts.
In 2018, I earned my Fire Instructor certification and CPR Instructor certification, which allowed me to begin teaching and mentoring others through training programs with Dust Busters. Sharing knowledge became just as rewarding as working on the fireline itself.
In 2019, I was honored to become the first female Crew Boss in the company's history, a milestone that reinforced my belief that hard work, dedication, and continuous learning can open doors for anyone willing to pursue them.
In 2021, after starting a family, my priorities shifted and I needed a career path that allowed me to continue serving my community while being present for my children. Today, I dispatch for the Oregon Department of Forestry and proudly own Emergency Response Academy.
Becoming a parent gave me a new perspective on emergency preparedness. It strengthened my belief that every member of our community should have the knowledge and confidence to respond during emergencies. Whether it's performing CPR, providing first aid, supporting a wildfire operation, or helping someone in need, the ability to act quickly and effectively can make a life-changing difference.
Emergency Response Academy was built on that belief. My goal is to provide high-quality, practical training that empowers people to feel confident in their skills and prepared to take action when it matters most. I want students to leave my classes not only with certifications, but with the confidence to respond without hesitation.
My children are the inspiration behind this business and the motivation behind everything I do. I want to help create a safer, more knowledgeable community—one where parents, teachers, coworkers, firefighters, and community members are equipped to protect and support one another. I also want to help others discover the opportunities that the fire service can provide. Wildland firefighting changed my life in countless positive ways, and I am passionate about helping others begin their own journey in emergency response.
Thank you for trusting Emergency Response Academy to be part of your training journey. I look forward to helping you build the skills and confidence to make a difference when it matters most.
